Patient involvement in chronic pain research project
There is an opportunity for people to join a patient advisory group, where you can be involved in a research project investigating the relationship between childhood experiences and pain.
The project is called Consortium Against Pain In Equality (CAPE):
The impact of adverse childhood experiences on chronic pain and responses to treatment. There is evidence that children who experience adverse childhood events, such as abuse and neglect, are more likely to experience more health problems later in life, including chronic pain.
This project will be led by Professor Tim Hales at the University of Dundee and the project will involve a collaboration with a large research team across the UK.
There is more information about the CAPE project here: https://www.ukri.org/news/new-data-hub-and-research-into-chronic-pain/
What will the patient advisory group involve?
The research team are looking for people to join the patient advisory group who have lived experience of chronic pain and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs). Being a member of the patient advisory group will involve joining online meetings with the research team. The patient advisory group will meet throughout the duration of the project, to give patients a voice to improve the quality and relevance of this research. You will be compensated for your time taking part in meetings. Please note, spaces on the group are limited.
If you are interested in joining this group please email Gillian, the Patient and Public Involvement Manager, with a short description of why you are interested in this project.
