Board Changes
During our AGM on Friday 16th August 2024 our chairperson Will Scott announced that he would be stepping down after 14 years.
Our CEO Sonia Cottom paid tribute to Will and gave the following speech:
“Well, with our new Chair successfully appointed, as Director, I wanted to take a moment to say a few words to Will, which I am sure will be echoed by the Board, Patrons, members and staff.
Will, your leadership has been nothing short of inspiring. Your interest and involvement with the Association goes way before my time with the Association – and that’s now 14 years! It goes back to the very early days when you were with the Scottish Government’s S.16b for health and social welfare. You always said that you admired our ethos, commitment and desire to provide support for those living with chronic pain.
From the moment you assumed the role of Chair, you have guided the Association with clear vision and unwavering commitment and your dedication to our mission and the well-being of everyone involved has truly set the tone for our collective success.
Now, Will, I’d be lying if I said all of this was plain sailing!! Trust me when I say that we have weathered some storms – but in navigating these challenges under your guidance, we have been able to seize new opportunities and achieved milestones that once seemed rather ambitious and unachievable.
Your nature has been to bring out the best in all of us, encouraging collaboration and fostering a culture of excellence through strength and perseverance. All of this has been instrumental in where we are today.
As we look to the future, I speak for us all when I say that with your legacy we will continue to reach greater heights. So, thank you for your tireless dedication, your belief in our potential and for the significant impact and legacy on the Association and ourselves as individuals.”
Some of the board and staff attended a meal for Will to thank him for service.
The new chairperson is Margaret Durham.
